32 local women received $1,486 each at a dinner at Gatto's in New Lenox last week. Organization's been raising scholarship money since the 1970s. December auction alone brought in over $40K.
🎸 Frankfort Bluegrass Festival Returns for Year 16
Grammy winners, international bands, three stages, 40 performances, all free. July 11th & 12th in Historic Downtown Frankfort. A band from Northern England is even making their American debut here. Kids area included. Mark your calendar.
🌱 St. Coletta's Launches a Gardening Group for Participants
St. Coletta's in Mokena turned an unused greenhouse into a hands-on gardening program. Corn, cantaloupe, squash, and more. Best quote of the week goes to Everett: "I love corn. I could eat corn all day.".
Chicago Summer 2026: The Timing, The Builds, The Market
If you're buying or selling anywhere in Chicago this year, the timing piece alone is worth knowing. I broke it all down on the channel this week.
Here's what you need to know:
The market runs on lease cycles, not weather. City buyers with leases ending May-July are on a real deadline. Miss it and they sign another year and disappear. Late June is the cutoff, city sellers, the clock is ticking
Suburban buyers run on the school calendar. Families want to close before July 4th. After that, urgency drops, but buyers who missed the peak will find less competition and more room to negotiate
Three massive developments just moved from concept to construction at once. The 1901 project on the Near West Side, the Chicago Fire stadium at The 78, and the Bronzeville Lakefront redevelopment. Three timelines, three parts of the city, all moving simultaneously
Transit is changing the math. Red Line extension broke ground April 24th, 5.5 miles of new track to 130th Street. O'Hare's biggest expansion in decades just went vertical
Summer makes Chicago the easiest city to fall in love with. Taste of Chicago back in Grant Park July 8-12. Windy City Smokeout outside the United Center. Lollapalooza July 30-August 2. Buyers at open houses during festival weekends make different decisions

Food Truck Fest kicks off Friday at 4 PM with free kids games and inflatables, running until 10:30 PM with fireworks around 9:30. Parade follows Saturday morning at 10 AM.

I covered The 78 on the channel this week. A 62-acre former railyard between Roosevelt Road and Chinatown just got its first major catalyst, the Chicago Fire broke ground on a $750 million stadium there in March. The South Loop just got the development anchor it's been waiting for.
At $450K near The 78, you're getting a South Loop condo. City energy, riverwalk access, and a front row seat to a neighborhood that's about to change. The upside is real, but you're buying ahead of the development, not into it. Full build-out is years away.
